Selfie with Boarding Pass

So obviously people taking selfies is nothing new.  I think it’s great when people want to share their experiences with their loved ones at home.  Unfortunately, a lot of people don’t seem to realize exactly how much info can be found on the bar code of your boarding pass and how easily that info can be obtained (resulting in hacks to your account, etc).

We’ve all been warned about this before but it’s amazing how quickly we forget to protect our private info.  Many of us might think we don’t really have any info for someone to steal, but the headache someone could cause is irritating at best.  Changed, flights, personal info, stolen miles, etc.  It just isn’t worth a stupid photo is it?

I guess the moral of the story is although you may want to broadcast your trip on social media with #humblebrag next to it, it’s probably not a good idea.  To be fair, if you want to keep your home safe from would be intruders, it isn’t a good idea to show everyone that you’re away on vacation on social media.
