There are 2 hotels in the Cusco area that are part of the Luxury Collection (bookable through SPG). For me, I can’t stand having to go through a crowd of taxi drivers just outside the airport who want your business. You don’t know if you’re getting ripped off, they might drop you off at a completely incorrect area, give you misinformation to get a commission elsewhere, etc.
I wasn’t able to find too much about an airport shuttle service from the airport to the Palacio Del Inka hotel in the heart of Cusco. To be honest, I really wanted to spend 2 nights here and then another 2 nights at the Tambo del Inka but I wasn’t aware of how to communicate properly to a taxi driver to get me to the Tambo property.
Well if you’re staying at either one of these properties, there is a booth at the airport that can arrange a shuttle to either property. You can’t miss it since it’s the last booth you’ll see before walking out of the airport next to the baggage carousels. It isn’t free but it certainly makes it easier to navigate and for me, I’m willing to pay extra to have peace of mind and less stress. Sure, you can probably negotiate a better deal haggling with a taxi driver so you aren’t required to use the service but I thought it was a really nice touch.
I’d heard about the booth at a travel seminar about a month ago but I couldn’t find anything online about it so I thought I’d share.
Also, if you’re fortunate enough to get a free upgrade (humble brag), you are in a for a treat. The outdoor private patio I have is just the icing on the cake to the massive closet and the criminally comfortable bed.
