Well it’s been a while since my last post. I’ve been struggling to get back on track from my short trip over to Poland while trying to plan my next trip.
So, I’ve decided to go to Indonesia and check out Borobudur! I love all things ancient and historic and visiting places with significant historic value always gives me a kick.
Now, all that said, I’ll be heading over the first week of July for a few days. From my research, it should be fairly humid and warm so my hope is that most tourists will stay away during this time. Call me selfish but I really dislike having to fight my way through a horde of tourists clamoring to take their selfie. I enjoy walking and exploring in solitude away from the noise and the distractions so I can really appreciate where I am. That’s just me though.
Outside of that, I’m not entirely sure what else there is to do in the town of Yogyakarta. I really love eating local foods and I get a big kick out of trying unknown foods. Outside of that, I’m not sure what else is there but I’m sure I’ll figure it out.
After a few days there, I jet over to Myanmar to check out the old temples in Bagan. From what I gather, it seems like a lot of the temples no longer allow people to climb them but my guess is, with over 2,000 temples, there has to be a few that still allow it. It looks like I’ll be visiting during the rainy season so my hope is that there will be very few tourists there (even though it may make getting around a little more difficult).
Finally, I end my trip with a few hours in Singapore. Easily one of my favorite cities in Asia, I planned my return to allow myself a good 8 hours to wander around. That should give me ample time to visit a few hawker stands and eat some great food.
Well, that’s plan so far. We’ll see how it all goes but since it’s already been 2 months since my last trip, I can’t wait to get back on the plane.
If you’ve been to any of these locations and have any suggestions, please let me know!
