If you’re looking for the perfect place to stay, I can’t recommend the Hilton Luxor Resort enough. The staff were wonderful and the rooms were adequate. The view overlooks the West Bank and the Nile and at night, it’s wonderful to see Hatshepsut Temple all lit up.
Location
Located along the Nile, the resort is about a 15 minute drive from the airport. It’s set in a bit from the main street so you won’t hear the goings on at night, especially when it gets busy on a weekend. You can definitely walk to a number of places around town to explore from here. The main boardwalk along the Nile is just outside of the main gate and the main downtown streets of Luxor are just a couple blocks away.
Resort
The resort has everything you could want on site. A spa, gym, infinity pool, a separate infinity pool in the spa area, outdoor and indoor bars, etc. Another thing I didn’t realize until late is that the hotel has a tour operator and even a few souvenir shops. They’re tucked away a bit in that it isn’t where you’d expect normal foot traffic to go so I didn’t spot them until fairly late in my stay.
For breakfast, the hotel offers a buffet breakfast with everything you’d expect. Cooked to order eggs as well as a falafel station (they’re fantastic) and anything else you might want is there. You should also try the fresh juices in the morning. It pretty much provides everything you could possibly want.
Rooms
The room was perfectly fine. I was given room 9 with a view of the Nile and balcony. It’s also a room closest to the pool so if you’re a light sleeper, you may want to ask for something a bit further away.
The rooms are a bit dated for sure. The room wasn’t bad but it was showing a bit of wear and tear. The bathroom was fine until I ran the shower. Then it had this odd smell like stale cigarette smoke or something. I couldn’t quite figure out what was going on but it was only when I turned on the water in the shower. But the AC worked great and it was a relaxing place to get out of the heat and sun.
Final Thoughts
It’s a great place to have as a base for your adventures in Luxor. The location is great in that it’ll put you near everything on the East Bank and within walking distance of downtown Luxor. The views of the Nile are also great and the amenities are world class as well. I thought it was nice that they had a tour operator there if needed since you could just book everything right there. Unfortunately, there aren’t any signs to direct you to them so you’ll have to ask.
